Founding Principles
Body Mechanics Physical Therapy was founded with a goal of bringing truly unique care to every client who walks in through our doors. We strive to provide customized, one-on-one care and guidance for each patient. Our patients’ goals are our main priority, whether it be maintaining a healthy lifestyle, training for a marathon, or recovering from an injury. We believe in educating our patients and establishing open conversations so each client understands the purpose behind every exercise in their program.
The human body’s ability to heal is a truly amazing thing, as are the mechanics that consistently make that recovery possible. On day one we work to explain the fine details related to your pain so you can visualize the adjustments that need to be made. From there, our therapists will help you reach your goals in a reasonable amount of time.
The relationships we build with our patients is ongoing past the completion of a rehabilitative program. We strongly believe in the importance of ongoing injury prevention including, but not limited to, ergonomic education, sports injury prevention and work-place injury prevention. We will work with you to develop an ongoing wellness program focused on preventing re-injury and maintaining your body awareness, fitness, and well-being.
David Barber PT, DPT
Dave received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northeastern University in 2016. While in school, he was involved with several outpatient orthopedic clinics on the South Shore. Since then, he has developed his skill set to include specialized treatments such as IASTM (e.g. Graston Technique), Kinesiology Tape, Cupping Therapy, Post-Concussive/Vertigo rehabilitation and Sportsmetrics™ Injury Prevention and Performance Training.
Opening Body Mechanics Physical Therapy has been a life-long goal of Dave’s since high school. He is passionate about physical therapy, and believes strongly in educating his patients and addressing their questions. One of his main priorities when developing a treatment plan is to understand the patient’s goals — whether it be running the Boston Marathon or being able to play with their grandchildren.
Dave is one of ten certified Sportsmetrics™ clinicians in the state. Sportsmetrics™ is the first and largest ACL injury prevention program designed to reduce the risk of injury and enhance athletic performance. Focused on developing strength, coordination and overall physical conditioning, it has been scientifically proven to decrease serious knee ligament injuries in female athletes.
